Internet video marketing is heading for the stratosphere and taking tight-budgeted endeavors with it. It is literally turning pocket-change into bill-folds for small businesses that embrace the opportunity. Online video has been around for some time, but the boom it’s seeing now is phenomenal and, as an effective advertising medium, it’s still on training wheels. Who would have guessed that the recent burst of internet video sites would be the catalyst for a virtual revolution?

Exactly right now, the elevator is on the ground floor, time to rush on. People are tired of opening their online junk mail. The idea isn’t new. In fact, it’s been around for about 20 years, but most of the video you come across online is still of individual web surfers clowning around or blabbering on about nothing at all.

Do you remember the last advertisement you came across while paging through a magazine? I sure don’t. Marketing big-wigs call it ad blindness. We are so used to being inundated with unsolicited advertising that, unless it’s a real attention grabber, we tend to just tune that advertising out. E-mail isn’t fun anymore, it is work, and e-mail advertisements are just shoved aside like so much junk.

The seemingly endless click-clicking of checking their e-mail almost puts most people to sleep. They don’t even try to take it all in, keeping whatever instantly means something to them and effortlessly discarding the rest with a single one of those monotonous clicks.

And I haven’t even mentioned the viruses, worms, spy ware, blah, blah, blah… You get the point. If I don’t know who it’s from, nine times in ten I don’t even open it.

And, of course, like any top-notch bad guy, e-mail has become dangerous too. Open the wrong message and your hard drive crashes. Another e-mail might send your credit card number and passwords to someone in Uzbekistan. It is really just so much easier to ignore it than risk it. And there’s the reason for the newfound success of online video right there. E-mail is ignored, filtered, trashed. How can marketers possibly use it as an honest means to send their messages?

But internet video marketing is paving the new road to success. For your business, it would be child’s play to have your products or services hitch a ride.

There are literally hundreds of sites ready to host your unique product video. Or, host it yourself! Set your company apart by hitting YouTube with your customized video marketing message.

If your target market is under 40, you’ve got it made. Gen. X’s and their successors are eating up online video, and internet video marketing is absolutely exploding. Take advantage of it, and send a brilliant visual message to your target audience that a flat old e-mail could never convey!
